In order to help Puerto Rico rebuild its infrastructure after the devastating Hurricane Maria of 2017, the Trump administration announced that it would extend an additional $13 billion in aid. Grants which are designed to improve Puerto Rico’s electrical grid and speed the recovery of its education system will be awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
With early voting periods beginning in Minnesota, Virginia, Wyoming and South Dakota, voters in these states sought to cast their ballots for the November election. Voters in Virginia have the option of submitting ballots in person at precincts across the state till November 2, and can send in ballots by mail up to October 23. President Trump and Joe Biden are set to visit Minnesota on Friday.
A federal judge blocked changes to the USPS, saying they were ’a politically motivated attack’ that had slowed the nation’s mail and likely would slow the delivery of ballots in the upcoming election. US District Judge in Yakima, Washington, said he was issuing a nationwide preliminary injunction sought by 14 states over July changes to the service. Similar lawsuits pend in Pennsylvania and NY.

Critics say this comes in response to The NYT’s 1619 Project, exploring the legacy of slavery, stressing that this could be used to ’indoctrinate’ children.
A New York Times-Siena College poll showed Joe Biden is leading President Donald Trump by wide margins in Maine and Arizona. However, in the key battleground state of North Carolina, they are in a tie, USA Today-Suffolk University poll showed. Interestingly in North Carolina, 46% of those polled think Trump will win the election versus 44% who think he won’t.

President Donald Trump reiterated his stand against mail-in voting and repeated that it is to endanger the November presidential election. During a news briefing, Trump said, ’Our biggest threat to this election is governors from opposing parties controlling ballots ... much bigger threat than foreign countries because much of the stuff coming out about foreign countries turned out to be untrue.’
The presidential campaign of Joe Biden said on Thursday that the Democratic presidential nominee views the presidential race as ’Park Avenue versus Scranton’. The presidential campaign sought to make the reference as it contrasted Mr. Biden’s position on taxes with that of President Donald Trump. A campaign official also claimed that President Trump ’looks down’ on working people.
