Polling booths opened in Venezuela on Sunday in order to elect members for the National Assembly. President Nicolás Maduro stands in attempts to appoint members of his United Socialist Party of Venezuela, a move which will ’smother the last remnants of democracy in Venezuela’ according to critics. The White House National Security Council claimed that the elections are nothing but a fraud.
