Indonesian police kill 6 supporters of hard-line cleric

Indonesian police on Monday fatally shot six followers of a hard-line cleric who returned last month from a 3-year exile in Saudi Arabia. Jakarta police said their force was following a car carrying 10 supporters of Rizieq Shihab, when the followers attacked the police with guns and swords, and the cops retaliated. Shihab’s return comes as Islamist forces gain political strength in Indonesia.
