#COVID19, #BlackLivesMatter emerge as top Twitter trends in 2020

Twitter announced on Monday that the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement topped the list of conversation topics amid a tumultuous year. While the #COVID19 was tweeted nearly 400 million times, #StayHome also emerged as the third-biggest hashtag of the year. #BlackLivesMatter emerged as the number two hashtag, and gained prominence following George Floyd’s death.
