Statue of Confederate ’Stonewall’ Jackson removed by Virginia Military Institute

A prominent statue of Confederate Gen. Thomas ’Stonewall’ Jackson was removed by the Virginia Military Institute on Monday. The project to do the same was kickstarted this fall after allegations of systemic racism roiled the public college. Freshmen were once required to salute the statue. A crane plucked the statue off its base, and slowly hoisted it to the ground.
