DNA identifies toddler whose body was found in Mississippi 38 years ago

DNA analysis identified a toddler whose body was found on the bank of Mississippi’s Escatawpa river on December 5, 1982. She was identified as 18-month-old Alisha Ann Heinrich. Her mother, Gwendolyn Mae Clemons, was not seen since 1982. Witnesses said they saw a woman carrying a baby on that day. Later, a trucker said he saw a woman’s body in the river. A search found the baby, but not the woman.
