At least 10,000 civilians died in military custody in Nigeria, Amnesty reports

At least 10,000 civilians have died in Nigerian military custody since 2011 after being detained in connection with the Boko Haram insurgency Amnesty International charged Tues. Many of the victims died at the ’infamous Giwa Barracks,’ said Amnesty in a report, noting severe overcrowding, scarce food and water, extreme heat, and lack of access to adequate sanitation and health care at Giwa.
