New whale species discovered off coast of Mexico

Researchers have discovered a new, previously unknown species of whale off Mexico’s western Pacific coast. The team said the beaked whales look and sound different from the approximately 23 other known species. They have taken water samples in the vicinity of the animals in hopes of getting an ’environmental DNA sample from their sloughed skin cells.’
