House passes stopgap bill to avoid government shutdown

The House passed a one-week government funding extension Wednesday as Congress tries to buy time to strike broad spending and coronavirus relief deals. The measure would keep the federal government running through Dec. 18. The bill passed, 343-67, and now heads to the Senate for approval. It is expected to be quickly cleared for President Trump’s signature.
