Muslims placed on no-fly list can sue FBI agents for damages: Supreme Court

Three Muslim men who had alleged they were placed or kept on the government’s no-fly list in retaliation for refusing to serve as terrorism informants for the FBI were handed a favorable ruling by the Supreme Court. In a unanimous opinion, the Court wrote that the men may sue individual FBI agents for money damages under a federal law protecting religious exercise.

"An individual whose religious exercise has been substantially burdened by a federal official," lawyer Ramzi Kassem of the City University of New York School of Law argued, "may sue that person in their individual capacity for damages."
