AstraZeneca to test combining COVID-19 vaccine with Russia’s Sputnik
British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca said Friday it would soon start work with Russia’s Gamaleya Institute to investigate whether their two coronavirus vaccine candidates could be successfully combined, a move Russian scientists have suggested could sharply boost efficacy. The hope is combining different vaccines will give either stronger or longer-lasting immunity to the virus.
In my opinion, this would have to be retested as if it is it’s own new vaccine, not a combination. You can take two harmless things in the world, but combining them can cause massive harm. As long as the necessary precautions are followed, go for it.
