Bills to create US Latino, women’s history museums blocked by Sen. Mike Lee
Senator Mike Lee of Utah blocked bipartisan legislation Thursday to create Smithsonian museums for American Latinos and women. The Republican Senator claimed that such institutions would ’further divide’ the nation. He also suggested that members of the Latino American community had not faced the same kind of systematic exclusion as other ethnic groups which already have Smithsonian museums.
Why the push to make everything segregated? Race and sex can be noted when describing individual achievements but they should be included with similar breakthroughs, not separated.
I’ve been holding out for the “red head” museum not to mention a “red head” protest! Perhaps Portland could host a book burning of all literature that uses the phrase, “red headed stepchild”.

I'm really confused about this museum. Is it a museum for all Latinos, and also all women? If so why are women included with Latinos? Are there just not that many contributions in culture and art for women to get their own museum? Why are other ethnicities excluded? Or is this just for Latina women? If so why did they phrase it that way? It also seems hyper specific for a whole museum of that's the case, but maybe I'm just ignorant in that regard.
Sen. Mike Lee typifies the white privileged ethnic racism that divides this country. A bigot through and through.

FYI..they were two separate bills, for two separate museum that have been seeking funding for many years.
Hard to disagree when there is a Smithsonian museum of American history. Surely this would be a part of that history.

I hace no issue with museums being created for whatever focus they wish, just so long as I am not compelled to pay for it via taxes.
