McConnell resists state aid in $900B COVID-19 deal

A bipartisan $900B COVID-19 aid package faces a threat after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said GOP senators won’t support $160B in state and local funds as part of a potential trade-off in the deal. McConnell’s staff conveyed that he sees no path to an agreement in exchange for the state and local funds that Democrats demand. The hardened stance creates a new stalemate over the deal.

I'm so old.... I can remember being spitting mad at GWB for his $300B budget deficit. Now they pass trillions in pork (with scraps for the little people) as if they're ordering lunch.

The Democrats won't ever give up on the dream to use other people's money to bail out mismanaged blue states and cities so these places can continue on with their failed policies.

The Republicans have failed the middle class. Bail outs for farmers, airlines, oil, big business, 700 billion for defense and not a penny for middle America. Republicans hate America.

Republicans are so hypocritical they only seem to care about spending when a dem is in. Its tragic because republican policies tank the economy and then a dem gets in and has to deal with this kind of corruption to get anything done. Republicans historically have been the party of the wealth and corporations.

After the Green New Deal, I would have thought that most people would have been asking questions like, "what ARE these state and local funds that are in the bill?" But no, Mitch bad because people can't ask why anymore.

Good. The more they bicker, the fewer of our great grandchildren's dollars are spent. Fuck stimulus deals, just let us open our businesses already!

I think our senators need to feel what we feel, and I'd like to see them live even a week on our wages. It's disgusting to me that they'll spend overnight sessions, filling the seat against a dying woman's wish, but they can't figure out some sort of aid in a timely fashion. Shame.

Government needs to open everything back up and let the citizens make the decisions on how to protect themselves. People are tired of being told how to act. Anyone with any common sense, knows this is about the elitist useing their power to control us all.

I mean... the states did this themselves. Now they want the government to help them out... I don't support bailing the states out entirely, but keeping them on their feet is the hospitable thing to do... Unless their leaders are hypocrites..#doasisaynotasido
