Car barrels into BLM protesters in NYC’s Times Square, driver arrested

The police reported that a driver who has been accused of barreling into a group of protesters at a Manhattan intersection has been taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment. There were nearly 40-50 protesters when the incident took place, and six people were struck. None of the injuries, however, were life threatening, the police further reported.

“named DataInput shows a dark sedan honking several times before plowing into a crowd of people standing in front of the vehicle. The car lurches through an intersection, leaving a chorus of screaming people in its wake.” Once again those “creative writing courses” are paying off for the NPR staff. The headline for this story should read; “people playing st00pid games win st00pid prizes!

Maybe don’t stand in front of vehicles on a road. Plenty of safer ways to protest. I don’t condone violence but threatening people in their vehicles and then blocking them, for whatever a protest may be for, is a poor choice.

I saw a video before she sped up. They were banging on the car and harassing her, apparently trying the handles. At that point, she had two options, stop and let the protesters do what they want to her and her car, or leave. Ideally, there would be fewer people between her and leaving, but they chose to stand in the middle of the road. Personally, I have a firm policy of not antagonizing things that can wreck me. This includes large animals, large people, and machinery. This policy has served me well. Stay out of the road and don't harass people in cars who can just panic and floor it!

Look, I understand that the protesters were in the street, and probably being annoying I guess. But getting annoyed at protesters does not warrant running them over, literally threatening their lives. Driving into a crowd of people like that is a very intentional move that can get people killed. Do all you people in this comment section trying to justify this really believe that being an annoying protester means you deserve to die?

If people are mobbing my car, I would do the same in a heartbeat. I don't know who is in that crowd, what this thinking, or what they could have on them. Not to mention their mental faculties. If that is the case, I can't blame the person .

You're allowed to protest (preferably with a permit). You're not allowed to riot, loot, target motorists and commit other property damage.

I wonder how far denial will go, the level of callousness in some of the remarks here is amazing. As much as I welcome the many Trump voters here, the intention of this website is not to create another echo chamber. The motivation behind this website was, I guess , to get them back at the table of common sense. To see news from established and trusted news outlets just like the w h o l e worlds sees them, and not to just easily dismiss them as f*** n***. Only for the comfort of not having to think twice (or three times, or four times...). The even more outrageous fact regarding this incident is for me, by the way, the finding by The Guardian that there have been similar cases before, that were not followed legally - and thus possibly promoting such behaviour. Even if your movies tell you otherwise - these kind sof actions are potentially lethal. P.S. If you're serious about this whole thing, read the non-American articles first, Your country is broken, you need more outside views.

I don't know the traffic laws in the US but here in Canada pedestrians have the right of way. Didn't something like this happen in South Carolina just a few years ago? Oh right, good people on both sides. Just saying.😂🇨🇦

How fast was she going? How severe were the injuries? Are people dead? Broken? Bleeding? Bruised? Or just offended?
