Cyberpunk 2077 developer offers refunds for disappointed Xbox, PS4 players

CD Project Red published a statement on Twitter, apologizing for inadequately demonstrating performance of Cyberpunk 2077 ahead of the December 10th launch. Console players have experienced a variety of performance issues on the base versions of Xbox and PS4. While promising fixes to address the issues, the game developer also stated that players may request a refund for their purchase.

I think CDPR were between a rock and a hard place. They don't release it, they get mobbed, they release it in a poor state, it's the same. The game was very ambitious, a lot of things were left on the cutting floor and it was released in a very buggy state, but so was Witcher. All I can say, the game will most likely be judged after a year of patches and content drops.

People bitched and bitched about getting out, instead of being patient and letting them for ever how long it takes to flesh out the bugs even if it took another year

You know, I haven't had many issues playing it on my base ps4. Some visual stuff and clipping. But it's still a good time and playable. I can't speak for everyone of course, but it's not a deal breaker for me. So far so good. That said, I can't wait to play through on full specs. I would say people are really over reacting to the whole thing, but I know not everyone had the same experience. Good on CDPR for giving players the option for a refund. Many developers wouldn't even entertain that idea.

Of course there are performance issues. Consoles keep developers from being able to create good games to broaden their market. Developers just skirt the edge as close as possible.

If you are still buying new releases or preorders without waiting first, you are part of this problem.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was intentional to move players to new consoles They did the same thing in the last round But there wasn't a recession so people committed

Kinda dumb to play it on console, should’ve never been released for console.

Wow and I just purchased this game, waiting for it to update to the latest version. I knew I should've got Assassin's Creed Valhalla lol!

People aren't upset about the performance issues on PS4 and Xbox1. What people are actually upset about are how CDPR straight up lied about the quality of a product that they would be releasing and withheld review copies for those consoles. It was a deliberate attempt to mislead consumers and it's disgusting. They also didnt really apologize. They apologized the same way someone trying to guilt someone would apologize.

Maybe finish your game before selling it. Stop selling pre alpha games.

The best solution I’ve heard is that they should have staggered the games release. PC and next gen console versions could have been released when they were, and last gen console versions could have been released a month or two later, so that they could be further optimized for the older hardware. That wouldn’t be a perfect solution, but there was NO perfect solution to begin with, releasing versions of the game with huge flaws was not a good idea.
