Clashes broke out between the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Peshmerga militia in northern Iraq, raising fears of an all-out conflict. In the latest skirmish, one PKK fighter and one Peshmerga fighter were killed. Tensions initially began when the KRG-led Kurdistan Democratic Party accused the PKK of assassinating a prominent security official, on October 8.
