New Jersey and Colorado to reconsider restrictions on religious gathering

The Supreme Court on Tuesday decided 6-3 to order New Jersey and Colorado lower courts to rehear cases about their restrictions on religious gatherings put in place due to the pandemic, citing religious freedom. This comes after rejecting NY Governor Cuomo’s similar restrictions on religious gatherings in his home state.

Just to clear this up: no one is trying to say you can't go to church. The government just wants to place stricter restrictions on the number of people in the buildings at a time. You know, so your grandma doesn't die because you had to crowd into church at the same time as 100 other people. You realize we already put these kinds of restrictions on churches, right? They're called fire safety laws. Public buildings, including churches, have limits on the number of people who can enter them, because after a certain point, it becomes unsafe in the event of a fire. This is the same thing, except instead of protecting us from fires, we're being protected from a virus which has killed 300 THOUSAND people now in this country. Some churches started holding meetings in those casinos. If casinos are allowed to be active, churches and restaurants should be under the same guidelines.
