Germany enters tougher lockdown as Covid-19 deaths surge

Germany has started going under tougher Covid-19 lockdown from Wednesday, which will run through the Christmas holidays. This comes amid reports of a new surge in coronavirus-related deaths in the country, which saw a record 952 deaths in the last 24 hours. The new lockdown will see shops and schools closed until January while social gatherings will be severely limited over the Christmas holidays.
