Kyoto Animation arson suspect charged with murder

Prosecutors in Japan have charged a man with murder over the 2019 arson attack on Kyoto Animation in which 36 people died. Shinji Aoba, 42, was detained in the aftermath of the attack, has been hospitalized since with severe burns sustained in the incident. The accused claimed the studio stole his work, which Kyoto Animation has denied doing. Aoba reportedly regained consciousness only in August.
