Twitter to ban Covid-19 vaccine misinformation on its platform

Twitter said it would remove posts claiming Covid-19 vaccines cause harm or are unnecessary, as well as conspiracy theories about them. Just as countries are rolling out the vaccine for the coronavirus, vaccine misinformation is also spreading via social media at an unprecedented rate. This has alarmed researchers who say the misinformation is now affecting large sections of people globally.

And who decides what is harmful, misleading or false information?

I don't understand how people can be so caught up in the thick of their own tribe to accept words like 'misinformation.' What does that even mean?? Do you mean intentional lies, ignorant statements? Propaganda? Information can be correct or incorrect, but the idea of misinformation doesn't make any sense. A misprint is a mistake. Does misinformation mean you mistakenly gave the wrong information? I'm in the scientific field, with a focus on research design and statistics. You'd blow a gasket of you heard how much we think we know but gets disproven later down the line. Some fields, like mine, have a knowledge half-life of only ten years. That means every ten years, half of what we know or recently thought was true became falsified. Even the best scientists ,the people we consider arbiters of knowledge, are incorrect often. The safest way to Wade through all information is using skepticism. Just make sure you're being fair, and use the same skepticism on things you hold true. Likely, you're wrong on a lot of things you think you know. I certainly am.

While its a good thing that they try to stop misinformation, its also scary that they have that much power over communication

Who determines what is disinformation or just information? This is like hate speech laws. There is no established definition for either and their existence is subjectively determined case by case. Otherwise known as biased propaganda.

Wow, maybe the conspiracy theorists were right. If they have to censor people, then there's probably something very wrong with the vaccine.

I'm sure talking about people that are having bad reactions and side effects would be a big no no!

Twitter sure doesn't have a very high opinion of its users of they feel they have to shelter them so.

Does anyone else find it frightening that the word 'misinformation' started popping up everywhere all at once??
