Tyson Foods fires 7 plant managers over betting ring on workers getting COVID-19

Tyson Foods announced Wednesday that seven managers from its Waterloo, Iowa processing plant were fired following a third-party investigation by former US Attorney General Eric Holder into allegations that they were betting on how many plant employees would get sick from COVID-19. Nearly 1,000 of the plants 2,800 workers tested positive for the virus in early May.

"The complaint says Tyson offered $500 "thank you bonuses" to employees who showed up for every scheduled shift for three months — a policy that the plaintiffs argue incentivized sick workers to keep working." Getting paid to show up for for work is now a bad thing.
