Libya frees 18 Italian fishermen detained for 100 days in fishing dispute

Eighteen Italian fisherman, who were rounded up and detained by forces loyal to Libyan military commander Khalifa Hifter in a fishing dispute in September have been freed, Rome said. To bring the Sicily-based fishermen, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio went to Benghazi where they reached a deal with Hifter for the fishermen’s release, Di Maio said.
