NY man rescued after 10 hours in car, under nearly 4 feet of snow

58 year old Kevin Kresen was trapped for over 10 hours after a plow covered his car with almost 4 feet of snow in upstate New York early Thursday. The 58 year old also suffered from hypothermia and frostbite as his car was without heat due to a broken serpentine belt. Authorities had failed to locate Kresen initially, as he had veered off State Route 17C in the town of Owego.

Friendly Reminder: Always have a winter emergency kit inside the passenger area of your vehicle (not the trunk) This should include: Flares (for signaling help) Mylar blankets (atleast one per regular passenger) Wool emergency blanket Extra socks/gloves (in case yours get wet digging out snow) Folding snow shovel Water bottle (1 per regular passenger) Flashlight (with spare batteries, not stored in flashlight, cold will cause them to leak over time) High viz vest with reflectors, for attaching to car antenna. Remember to always dress warm enough if you were to be without heat, and never try to walk away from your vehicle if you ditch it and there is no known nearby help. Never leave shelter unless you absolutely must.

I just watched a movie of just this situation the other day that was based off a real event. It was a couple stranded and it was weeks. She even gave birth while trapped under the snow in the vehicle.
