Benny Napoleon, Wayne County sheriff, dies of Covid-19 complications

Benny Napoleon, the sheriff of Michigan’s Wayne County and former Detroit police chief, died at Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital after spending weeks in the hospital with Covid-19 infection, his family said. He was 65. Napoleon served for over a decade in the county, which is Michigan’s largest and includes Detroit. He joined the Detroit Police Department in 1975 and retired as police chief in 2001.
