Sen. Johnson blocks Covid relief payments on claim that the deficit is too big
Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson blocked a bill to provide $1,200 payments to U.S. adults and $500 to children amid the pandemic and economic collapse complaining that the budget deficit is too large. In 2017 he voted for the tax cuts for the rich which greatly expanded the deficit. The bill was co-authored by fellow Republican Sen. Hawley and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
