Wisconsin’s first woman chief justice, Shirley Abrahamson, dies at 87

Shirley Abrahamson, the first woman to serve on the Wisconsin Supreme Court and its first female chief justice, has died. She was 87. Abrahamson, who also served as chief justice for a record 19 years, died Saturday after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Abrahamson was a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 1976 through 2019. She also served as chief justice from 1996 to 2015.
