Gunman sentenced to life in prison for 2019 Halle synagogue attack

A gunman who killed two people in a failed attack on a synagogue in Halle, Germany, last year has been sentenced to life in prison. Announcing the verdict, the judge noted that the far-right extremist Stephan Balliet, 28, had repeatedly tried to relativize the motives for his ’cowardly attack’ during the trial. A 40-year-old woman and a 20-year-old male were killed by Balliet.

Life means life I hope. Here in Britain life has a habit of meaning far less than life.

Germany seems to be doing better since its antisemitism laws have been out in place. It’s either out in the open or pushed underground. What decent society wants vile hatred out in the open?

We need more free speech to tackle anti semitism. Censorship simply drives ideas underground to become radicalised. Why is it illegal to criticise things? This is anti democracy and anti western culture.
