Antarctica records 36 cases of COVID-19

The first cases of the novel coronavirus infection have been recorded in Antarctica. The continent, which was the only one to not have been touched by the virus, recorded 36 cases among people stationed at a Chilean research base. 26 of those infected are from the Chilean army, and 10 are maintenance workers. The outbreak was reported from the General Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme research base.
