Putin signs bill granting ex-presidents lifetime immunity

Putin signs bill granting ex-presidents lifetime immunity

Russian President Putin signed a law Tuesday which grants all ex-presidents and their family members broad, lifetime immunity from prosecution. The move extends protections for ex-presidents that previously covered only crimes committed while in office. It also exempts them from being detained, questioned, arrested or subjected to searches.

This is exactly what Trump dreams of. To be a fascist dictator that can do anything without any impunity. Don't waste your time telling me Putin isn't exactly that because in real life that's exactly how his power plays out. No wonder Trump won't denounce Putin for hacking us and for a million other things in the last 4 years. Putin is his idol. Unfortunately Putin looks at Trump as a useful dotard and nothing more. Finally, I do not get it how Trump supporters don't see Trump as a traitor for reasons stated above. Russia is not America's friend! How did all the Trump supporters forget that?

Vlad must be worried that he might get held responsible for all those assassinations.

This is so the people that follow him can't take his wealth if Russia gets a decent leader. Putin's the richest gangster in the world he wants to keep it that way

It is cases like this that show the need for an International Court of Justice. U.S. should support it.

Funny the comments comparing this to Trump (who never did anything like this) when Gov Cuomo of NY passed a bill making it illegal for him to be sued over the nursing home murders.

He's aware that dictators lose power by dying. The illusion of a legitimate vote wont last. I'm sure experts expected this.

@WorkingMan Trump owns you and your entire train of thought. Triggered much.

Love this. There really isn't any reason to pass such a law ... unless .... one has done things that would result in criminal prosecution. This is also a pointless law to pass; once he is out of office, the law can be changed to remove this immunity.

As if he's ever planning to be an ex-president. He must be doing it to protect his family after he's dead.
