New York temporarily bans on use of facial recognition in schools

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed one of the United States’ first statewide ban on the use of all biometric identifying technology in schools into law. The law includes facial recognition tech, which will force the Lockport City School District to stop using its controversial AEGIS security system that it introduced in January after the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
