US long-term mortgage rates drop to record low at 2.66%

In a reflection of how badly the coronavirus pandemic hit the US economy, America’s long-term mortgage rates dropped this week to a record low for the 16th time this year. The benchmark Freddie Mac 30Y Fixed Mortgage index showed home loan slipped to a record low 2.66% from 2.67% last week, which was at 3.74% a year ago. The 5-year adjustable-rate mortgage remained unchanged at 2.79% this week.
