In Christmas message, Pope Francis calls upon nations to share Covid-19 vaccines

In a Christmas Day address, Pope Francis called upon world leaders to ensure everyone has access to Covid-19 vaccines. The pontiff said, ’May the Son of God renew in political and government leaders a spirit of international cooperation, starting with healthcare, so that all will be ensured access to vaccines and treatment. In the face of a challenge that knows no borders, we cannot erect walls.’

How bout the Pope just focus on making sure they actually follow and teach God's Word and not push politics.

When you are in a plane accident you must secure your own oxygen mask before helping others. This is no different, helping others is ultimately beneficial (if done responsibly) but you must help yourself first. A countries main responsibility is to its own citizens and they must get theirs before the country can start sharing.

A lot of you might interpret this as sharing the vaccines we make for ourselves with less fortunate countries, and selfishly decline. However it would be rather simple to remove the patent specifically for less wealthy countries so that they are not barred from receiving or producing what they need to help themselves.

I'm rather disappointed that was focus of the message. Something that's specific to this time and not something timeless, some inspiration that could apply to more people. Why not speak about, I don't know, how even in this year that had more misfortune, we still have risen to the occasion and helped those in need. People who helped those affected in Honduras and so on. You could probably even find something better than what I brainstorm in 2 minutes, coming from person not known for his eloquent expression.

The only cheap non profit vaccine is the AstraZeneca-Oxford one. I'm not in favor of the usa buying over priced $20 a shot vaccines to send overseas. https://observer.com/2020/11/covid19-vaccine-price-pfizer-moderna-astrazeneca-oxford/ Everything is about billions in profits.

So says the guy who made a deal with a communist nation that engages in forced organ harvesting, concentration camps, and illegal land grabs. Oh, and they're atheists too.

How about those who scientifically developed it and the countries that financed it be the first ones to take it, and you can keep praying for an end to COVID. See which works fastest. (By the way, I don't plan on getting vaccinated for COVID, but the sentiment still stands.)

The pope has so mutch gold in his chamber that he can buy everyone a dose... but like all other famous people he realized that it is cheaper to ask apon others than to give yourself
