Pope Francis formally strips Vatican state secretariat of Holy See’s assets
Pope Francis has formally stripped the Vatican secretariat of state of its financial and real estate assets. This comes after it emerged that hundreds of millions of euros in donations and investments were mismanaged, which triggered a corruption probe. The pontiff signed a new law ordering the state secretariat to complete the transfer of all its holdings to another Vatican office by February 4.
