US, EU slam China’s jailing of Wuhan Covid-19 whistleblower, demands her release
The United States and the European Union have condemned China for jailing former lawyer Zhang Zhan and demanded she be released immediately. Zhang, as a citizen journalist, reported the unfolding crisis during the initial days of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. A Chinese court handed Zhang a 4-year jail term for ’picking quarrels and provoking trouble’ by her live-reporting on social media.
