College boots student for using N-word in a 3-second video she shot at 15

The University of Tennessee removed Mimi Groves from her ’dream college’ after a three-second snapchat video emerged showing her using the N-word. Groves was seen looking at the camera and saying, ’I can drive, n*****s.’ She apparently said this when she got her driving license in 2017, when she was 15. Now, Groves is suing the college for ’rushing to judgment’ and ’robbing her of her dream.’

If their reaction would not be the same if she was black, that's racial discrimination. She should sue.

Gillian needs to seek help. To be so offended over a word, that he ploted and held on to a video for a year and then used it to cause this person, a then child, as much damage as possible. It's mental. There was no lesson, it's an example of how evil and sick this world has become. People frothing at the mouth at the idea of some juice drama. It's all very mentally off. Let the 1st one who has never said anything that could be construed as wrong....put the pen to ink.

I really don't think this was productive. Quite possibly the young woman is racist,or not who knows. I think she should sue the gentleman who used a video from when she was underage to ruin her life. It was malicious.

Dumb decision, everybody has said something regretful in their lives. If she is apologetic, good enough, move on, ffs

State and Federal funded Universities can deny opportunities based of their censorship of speech now? 1984, yeah right, that was a typo Mr. Orwell.

This sounds like an overreaction by the college to something very stu_pid that a student did as a teenager.

Anyone can tell this was said innocently. She just got her license & was expressing jubilation. My guess is that this was a rush to judgment and she will win her lawsuit.

Destroying a kid's career over something they did when they were 15. Probably was the one that ended with an A too. She should sue for racial discrimination or boot out everyone that has said that word regardless of their race. That word is used in common language among black people so I don't doubt it is used by a lot of their black students and staff for that matter.

I don’t agree with people using the N word but come on. This is an overreaction. Especially considering that she was 15 when it happened, years before she enrolled at that school. Not a good reaction on the university’s part.

HONK HONK 🤡🌎 She di'n't even use it in a derogatory way or direct it at one. The sociopath kid (which i hope crosses my path one day) is a privileged little twerp w'o's half white who probably uses the word all the time. So how much black do you need in your blood line to use it. If these maniacs say were all from Africa then my 85% Irish ass should be able to say it. ( Which i do anyway and no one can stop me)

I'm actually more offended by the fact that she was dumb enough to put herself in this situation, than her using the N word to begin with.

I like how the person using the N word is suddenly the victim lol. That's like me uttering something anti-semitic and then claiming to be the victim when my career inevitably becomes in jeopardy. Look, she was 15, she was young and dumb, I don't think she should be judged on something she said at that age. However, one does have to ask themselves how did our educational system fail to educate her on American history so that she understood the consequences of making this mistake? It's so easy not to say that word and screw over your future self. It's confusing.

Omg...🙄 I''s like context some how disappeared from the minds of people when judging others. As some one who does have slurs hurled at them, I think this was a huge over reaction.

Destroying someone's life over a word she said to no particular person. Talking about black fragility!

Wouldn’t be surprised if her expulsion was the result of a Leftist/Antifa harassment campaign directed at the college.
