Advocates urge parole for inmates to avoid Covid-19 deaths in prisons

The coronavirus pandemic has ravaged US prisons infecting over 275,000 inmates and causing the deaths of over 1,700. According to a National Commission study, prisoners are three times more likely to get Covid-19 than the general public. This has made some lawyers to come forward and demand parole for inmates. One of them said the fear of political backlash is decision-makers to release them.
