Bitcoin hits record $28,600 as 2020 rally powers on

Bitcoin on Wednesday jumped to a record US $28,599.99, after the digital currency almost quadrupled in value this year amid heightened interest from bigger investors. The world’s most popular cryptocurrency was last up 2.3 per cent at US$28,012. It has surged by nearly half since breaking US$20,000 for the first time on Dec. 16.

This is what happens when a bunch of suckers are stuck at home with nothing to do because the economy is closed and people are scrambling to make money. The value of most cryptocurrencies has skyrocketed since the lockdowns began against nearly every currency on the planet, from dollars to yen to rubles. What we are witnessing is a speculation bubble. Just like stocks have rebounded despite near-insolvency, cryptocurrencies are booming. Sell before the music stops boys; bitcoin ain't bullion.
