Ontario’s finance minister resigns after taking Caribbean holiday amid pandemic

The finance minister of Canada’s most populous province has resigned after going on a Caribbean vacation in violation of his own government’s coronavirus travel warnings and posting a video pretending to be at home on lockdown. The minister, Rod Phillips, returned to Canada on Thursday and apologized for his actions. Ontario’s premier, Doug Ford, has accepted Phillips’s resignation.

Same old, same old. One rule for the politicians, another for the rest of us. Of course he apologized, he was caught.

I really hate advocating for someone to lose their job, but in this case I am glad there are consequences for their actions. Hopefully others will listen. Doug Ford even did it himself which is really kind of ironic

What’s amazing is that he actually resigned. Corrupt, hypocritical, politicians usually “Apologize.” and say, “I will do better next time.” (Gavin Newsom, etc.)
