Residents from Badung on Indonesia’s Bali cleared 30 tons of marine debris from the Kuta beach, including tons of plastic waste, on New Year’s Day. Colonel Made Mahaparta of the Udayana Regional Military Command told the country’s state-run news agency Antara that 70% of the trash was plastic waste. Plastic and other marine trash wash onto the Kuta beach every year during the monsoon season.
Excellent opportunity to recycle without having to chase down the debris. China and SE Asia in general are horrible about their solid waste management. They should fix it.
