COVID privacy data available to police in Singapore

Earlier privacy assurances are being reversed by Singapore as the country admitted that data from its COVID contact tracing program can also be accessed by the Police. It was earlier claimed that the data would only be used for virus tracking. The TraceTogether program has close to 80% of residents signed up. The data from the program will be used by the police for criminal investigations.

With this action, Singapore unfortunately may have eroded trust between citizens and government at a global level.
