Germany mulls extending hard lockdown as Covid-19 deaths surge

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the country’s 16 state governors are likely to decide the hard coronavirus lockdown currently in place as the daily deaths in the country due to the infection continue to mount. On Tuesday, Germany recorded 994 more Covid-19 deaths. The current hard lockdown, which came into effect on December 16, is originally set to expire on January 10.
