Giant vagina sculpture in Brazil causes controversy

A giant sculpture of a vagina on a hillside in Brazil has fueled a cultural war between the left and right. In an online post, the artist Juliana Notari said the vulva art was intended to provoke debate over the ’problematization of gender.’ Many from the right flooded the artist’s Facebook page with their ire, including President Bolsonaro’s US-based political guru Olavo de Carvalho.

Idk the bright red and 4+ stratified layers kinda make it look less like a vulva and more like a clay stone crevasse but whatever

Im so tired of "art" and media being obsessed with sexuality and body parts. Can we do one thing without it being sexualised?

I will now start a go fund me to build a giant cock and balls in the middle of downtown Toronto. Equipped with a link to a watermain so it can function as a fountain.

This is a symbol of toxic femininity and matriarchal oppression. It needs to be filled immediately

Who's v looks like that! I would have thought it was a sculpture of some abstract art.

If you draw a big vagina on a hillside it’s considered to be pushing the boundaries of social norms and confronting gender issues, yet if I draw a massive dick instead I’m considered childish

Is no one going to talk about how someone literally funded these liberals to make a vagina on the side of a mountain. Like someone had the mental capacity to think “oh yeah this mountain vagina sounds like a good idea” and actually go through with it Western civilization is not on decline, it’s gone

That not a vagina, that’s an abyss.

Not sure why people are getting pressed over it. It’s literally just a body part that a little over 50% of the population has. If you don’t like the sculpture then just don’t go visit it. Nobody is forcing you to

I appreciate that it doesn't look like an actual vagina. I'm not bothered by it if it looks this unidentifiable.

Let's turn the spire of the Empire State Building into a giant k0k for art's sake. If you have a problem, you are against s3x and are a midandrist!

I don't know what is stranger, artists infatuation with genit@ls or right wing contempt for genit@ls?

Like the crucifix in a beaker of urine - if no one has ever done it before it MUST be "art"...
