There has been a global condemnation following the mass arrest of pro-democracy opposition figures in Hong Kong under a national security law imposed by Beijing. More than 1,000 cops detained 53 prominent figures, including a US citizen, in dawn raids on Wednesday on charges of ’subversion.’ The American lawyer John Clancey has since been released without charge pending further inquiries.
I don't know, do other countries have laws against conspiracy to cripple the government? Like, for example, if an organisation rallies and funds a group of candidates to run for election in the Senate for the expressed purpose of rejecting the budget or bills to raise the debt ceiling, thereby crippling the US government. Then using this influence to blackmail the head of government into resignation. Does the US have National Security laws addressing these behaviours?
