Glass, and similar substances including metals, plastics, proteins, and even biological cells, exhibit behavior distinct from almost all solids and liquids. These substances solidify without organizing their molecules into a crystalline structure. New research has dubbed the state ’liquid glass’ and called it a different state of matter than the traditional solid, liquid, gas, and plasma states.
You’re going to have to be more specific than just saying “metals” because that makes up a large chunk of the periodic table
The fact that glass is a type of liquid has been known for a very long time.
lame...they just renamed highly viscous liquid. And I got all excited for nothing.
Science b tch
Gonna need a cooler name than that
Many scientists are very confused.
So, it's a gel?
So now they've identified the goop that's between a leftists ears. They should now get on with it and figure out a cure.
No new state of matter was "discovered," just redefined. Sad
Ok, so my take aways are: 1. Most everything is liquid glass that was once considered a solid. 2. This isn't so much a discovery as it is a reclassification.
This is better than calling these substances "supercooled liquids" how exactly?
And this new distinction is useful and will help the world's problems how again?
It's a little known fact that glass is actually a liquid. It appears solid, but it's actually moving very slowly. That's who old windows from the 1700s will have wavy lines in them. It's settling slowly.
