WhatsApp users junk app over new privacy concerns, Signal sees downloads surge

WhatsApp is witnessing an exodus of users after it told them they must allow the app to share data with its parent company, Facebook, if they wish to continue using it. After the controversial change in WhatsApp terms of service, which will kick in from February 8, rival messaging apps, especially Signal and Telegram, have seen a huge surge in downloads. WhatsApp has around two billion users.
