Earlier this week, Google revealed that it was ’conducting experiments’ to evaluate the merit of its services to news outlets in Australia. Media reports suggested that Australian news websites were not showing up in searches following the experiment. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg called out to Google, accusing it of ’blocking’ users when it should be paying for the content.
It's funny that a lot of the rest of the world holds big tech accountable but Congress only wants their payoffs.
Companies shouldn't be forced to subsidize previous mediums - Henry Ford didn't have to fund the Horse and Carriage industry. It should be free and fair but Australia isn't calling for either
Gosh this needs to stop. These companies need competition. Our safety and freedom of speech are in danger if this keeps going on.
Notice how everyone is complaining but being complacent with being ruled by a tech company. Globalization is here and were owned by less people than you thought.
And? What are you going to do about it? Nothing that's what. We are all Googles bthc. Don't backtalk your masters.
"Big Brothers ministry of truth has spoken. How dare you speak against Big Brother..." Google is Big Brother, down with Big Brother!
Google: Let's try to manipulate 24 Million Australians into browsing our news rather than their own media. Thank you Google, my overlord and bastion on Real Trustworthy News.
Their working on sensoring you as well .
Time for all the world governments to start canceling Google. Divide the company up
Google is far too powerful.
So they're mad if Google uses them in searches and mad if Google doesn't use them in searches? Pick a lane
I wonder if those news sites are ones Google disagrees with. Yep.
Ahhhhh.... 'conducting experiments'! Good one!
Notice how all the headlines are exactly the same? Manufactured news by google I.e. google writing a news article about itself trying to disguise its own shenanigans as simple a test. Goebbles would be proud.
