The implementation of the new privacy policy has been delayed by WhatsApp by three months following backlash received by the application. Tens of millions of WhatsApp users moved to rivals of the platform such as Telegram and Signal. The Facebook-owned company had earlier planned to implement the changes in policy on the 8th of February.

The delay has no impact on those who already decided to migrate to other messaging apps. Decentralised digital presence at small added effort is a fair compromise to make.
