Former GOP congressman says he’s leaving party: ’This has become a cult’

Former Rep. Mickey Edwards of Oklahoma said Thursday that he is leaving the Republican Party because it has ’become a cult’ under Trump. ’It’s the kind of a cult that when the leader of the cult does anything, no matter what it is, or how awful it is, they voted,’ he said, adding that party leaders are still questioning the results of the election even after the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

Hmm, just realized that I too have left the GOP as the latest donation request from the RNC got this response: The Republican party failed to ensure election transparency and very likely integrity. Until there is significant election reform, I will only back candidates, regardless of party, that have that as a primary focus. Please remove me from your mailing list.

This guy seems to be a never-Trumper realizing the GOP needs to embrace populism or consign itself to losing every election. Hmm, the swamp draining itself!

Never a Trumper, he's a personal friend of Joe Biden from their Senate days. Old liner, that will never bend to any Populism. He's always been more interested in his constituents than the party. Surprised he hasn't declared being Independent sooner.

Another Republican opportunist who waits until the very end before calling it out. Coward. These people think you guys are not smart. They think they can just do a 180 and you will just smile and nod. These people think you're dumb. So why do you continue to show them you ARE dumb and vote for them?
