College Board, the non-profit that conducts the SAT, announced that it will drop the SAT’s optional essay section and its supplementary SAT Subject tests. It said the Covid-19 pandemic ’accelerated’ the organization’s process to simplify their tests. It also said it wants SAT to be a digital exam. However, critics say the College Board was trying to put more emphasis on Advanced Placement tests.
Similar to the removal of standardized testing in our third world country which resulted in universities adjusting to students who aren’t able to cope with the minimum requirements needed in their chosen course but since the schools are required to pass the students, this resulted in an unemployable workforce as employers started mandating entrance exams.
