Fire breaks out at Covid-19 vaccine manufacturer in India, 5 dead

A huge fire engulfed the Serum Institute of India – the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer – in Pune, Maharashtra killing at least 5 people. The firm was at the forefront in manufacturing the AstraZeneca/Oxford Covid-19 vaccine. Several countries are depending on the Serum Institute to supply them with the vaccine. The Serum Institute also plans to supply 200 million doses to WHO’s Covax scheme.
